Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne

♣ (3/5) 352 pages

Elena suggested I read this book. She said I would like it and I did. This book is such a trip and it scares me how real that it is. I feel like the events that took place in the book could happen in real life. That kind of scared me. I would suggest this book to others to read. It’s a candy read but it’s worth it.

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

(2/5)  209 pages

I honestly didn’t really like this book. It brings insight to some of my cultural background yes, but I have no relation to my culture that connects to any part of the book. Other than the fact that i could not connect to the book I didn’t really find a plot to the story. Yes the synopsis said that the main character fell from grace and all that, and within the contexts of the book it made sense, but personally I didn’t find that aspect of the book enjoyable. I’m not going to say not to read because you could end up liking in. I just personally struggled to read and enjoy this book that’s all. I would suggest reading the book to form your own opinion and share that opinion with me. I really want to find something to like about this book because I’ve heard its a good book. As of now this is where I stand on the book.

Demigods & Magicians by Rick Riordan

♣  (3/5) 187 pages

This book was purely a candy read. The only sort of downside to reading this book is that it felt childish. like after reading so many “grown up” books with mature content and subject matter I felt like this book was really simple. other than that it was a good book. I picked it up full of nostalgic vibes and I wasn’t disappointed. I basically lived off of Rick Riordan’s mythology novels as a kid. The books expand my mind and actually made me want to read more. I felt like a 9 year old again reading this book. If you enjoyed the Percy Jackson series then you’ll like this book.

Reflection

I’m a little disappointed that I was not able to read the books i set out to read for this month but there is always next month. Those books aren’t going anywhere. The books i would like to read in the months to come are Allegaint, Carve the Mark, the Fates Divide, Bridge of Clay, Queen of Air and Darkness, the Great Gatsby, 419, the Iliad, and the Odyssey.
